APRIL 12 – National Library Day

How many presidents are there?  Who invented peanut butter? Where is Punxsutawney?  No question needs to go without an answer if you have a library nearby.  A visit to your local library is inexpensive, fun and educational.  The joy of sharing books is a priceless gift you can give your child.  Most libraries offer a wealth of materials to stimulate and amuse all ages, including Mom and Dad.  Many have music-listening stations, video equipment, story cassettes and computers.  Every time you share a story, a book, a game or a song with a child, you have a chance to light a flame that will last a lifetime.

FEBRUARY 26-Levi Strauss day, Tell a fairy tale day

Today we celebrate the creator of our favorite pants – blue jeans! We all love our jeans – but what to do with them once we’re done wearing them. All Free Crafts brings this adorable Denim Diary Cover

Making up stories is so much fun. Start the story with "Once upon a time" and let each child add onto the story. At the end, wrap it up with the "And they lived happily every after" ending.

NOVEMBER 7—Daylight savings ends, International Tongue Twister Day

Tongue twisters are fun and funny. Try saying these 5 times fast!

A Tudor who tooted a flute
tried to tutor two tooters to toot.
Said the two to their tutor,
"Is it harder to toot
or to tutor two tooters to toot?"

Or

Which witch wished which wicked wish?

Or

Six slippery snails, slid slowly seaward.

Enjoy sleeping in an extra hour!

NOVEMBER 1 - National family literacy day

Turn off the TV and gather a pile of books, comics and magazines you can read together. Talk together about what you are reading. Visit Wonderopolis to explore a different "wonder" together every day.

Print out
Bingo cards, and play using words that your children are learning.
